Rhythym

This  piece was originally going to be something else completely. I tried not letting my appreciation of japanese style bleed through. Oh well, I guess I dedicate this one to Chris Phelps.

Heavy Hitter!

Its a little old but here is my invented vehicle.

Figure update

Hey! Here's a little bit of what's been going on in figure.

Inventive figure with back ground.

This is one of the figures that I mentioned in an earlier post.

Figure

For this drawing my figure teacher just said "Fuck it!" and had the model play his sitar for an hour. I had a lot of fun with this one because at no point were his hands still. This was probably the most fun I've had in figure this year!

This was a pose I turned in to show that I've learned anatomy

This was another piece that I was going to turn in for anatomy, but then I made a better piece in class. I didn't get the chance to scan the new piece yet.

This one was just for fun. The teacher put some toy houses on the model. I just figured I'd turn her into a mountain.

HrOTHGAR's MEAD HALL

So here is my inventive interior with implied figure. I decided to do a Viking piece so I looked at a lot of How to Train Your Dragon. I also found a lot of help from Tangled concepts.
Now onto Invented vehicle!

A peek inside my sketch book

Here is some of the stuff I draw in my sketch book for my figure Class

Figure Drawings

Here are two twenty minute figure drawings that I made. The bottom one was selected by John Williams for the Open House show!

2D Design Project 3 "Balance"

The assignment was to take 7-10 different pictures of people, places, or things, convert them into silhouettes and arrange them to tell a narrative  with asymmetrical balance. This assignment was definitely one of the easier ones. My teacher also picked this piece for the open house show coming up!

Open House Show

Each of my core classes have decided to use one of my pieces from there class for the open house show. I am honored and excited! Here are the three respective pieces.

Drawing 1- Steve Strenk- "Hall of Oddities"
Figure Drawing- John Williams- 20 minute figure
2D Design- Steven Taft- Balance

Comic Page

Here is a comic that I made the summer before Ringling. I was experimenting with tonal color so I did it on Photoshop. I first did it with pen and ink and then transferred it over to photoshop, did a threshhold, and went over it with tonal grays and an eye-catching blue.

Design Project 2

Everyone says this is good, so I might as well show it. Not gonna lie this project was a real pain. At least I feel like I learned a thing or two. I'm grateful for Taft being my design teacher.

Shrine of the Rising Sun.

This was the "Hall of Oddities" perspective assignment. The requirements were to make four sculptures on four similar ornate pedestals with a minimum of three arches on each side. I decided to go with an oriental approach for the museum. I made the pedestals in the style of Chinese architecture while making the arches inverted as ropes with Shinto tags. I added in samurai armor as the sculptures and put ninjas on the top to fill up negative space. They also added a good amount of narrative.

This piece was inspired by my good friend Jack Corpening.

Summer Art

Here is some summer art that I did right before I came to Ringling college of art and design.
